What is the main tourist street in Cork?

On this page

The main street in Cork is St Patrick’s Street, known locally as Patrick Street. It curves through the centre of the city island and is lined with shops, with the English Market, Oliver Plunkett Street and Opera Lane all just off it.

Other streets visitors love

  • Oliver Plunkett Street: the busiest street for pubs, restaurants and live music, including the Hi-B and Market Lane.
  • Princes Street: a pedestrian street leading to one of the English Market entrances, full of places to eat.
  • Washington Street: popular for late bars and nightlife.
  • MacCurtain Street: the heart of the Victorian Quarter on the northside, with restaurants and gig venues.

Exploring from Patrick Street

Everything in the centre is close, so Patrick Street is a good starting point. Walk north over Patrick’s Bridge for MacCurtain Street and Shandon, or south for the English Market and the pubs. Our Cork pubs guide covers the best stops.
