A two-time GRAMMY Award winner, Pulitzer Prize recipient, MacArthur “Genius” grant laureate, and acclaimed composer for opera, ballet, and film, Giddens has dedicated much of her work to highlighting the often-overlooked contributions of marginalized groups in American musical history. Through her artistry, she strives to present a more accurate and inclusive narrative of the country’s musical heritage.
