Reidy’s Vault Bar is now closed. The bar at 15 Lancaster Quay, Western Road, was sold in 2026 for just under €600,000, and its fittings, including the famous mahogany bar counter, were sold at auction in May. The new owners, the team behind Son of a Bun on MacCurtain Street, have applied for planning permission to turn the building into a restaurant. We’ll update this page when it opens.
The Reidy family still run Le Chateau Bar on Patrick Street if you’re looking for one of their pubs. For other places to drink, see our guide to Cork pubs.
About Reidy’s Vault Bar
A former bonded warehouse, Reidy’s was a grand Victorian style long bar and the first point of welcome on the Western Road approach to the city, a short ramble in from UCC. It served food and drinks from early evening until late. Many curiosities from the city’s history could be found throughout the bar and in its quaint courtyard garden, and the Irish coffees at the Vault were famous.
