Over the past number of years, FLOATING OPERA has been playing four or five gigs annually. These gigs have been the best kept secret in Cork and the highlight of the year for the musical cognoscenti. Looking through the list of musicians, it is not difficult to understand why.

Lead singer, ÁINE WHELAN, is best known for her work with the JOYFUL MYSTERIES, THE WORKS and BRIAN KENNEDY. She is currently completing an MA in performance and a capacity attendance witnessed her recent stunning performance in the Cork School of Music.

On lead guitar, FLOATING OPERA are delighted back to welcome back the legendary HAL O’NEILL who has been taking a sabbatical in the Bluegrass and Old Time world with the Lee Valley String Band, Brendan Butler and others. Thank you sir.

PAUL SEYMOUR on keyboards needs little introduction to Cork music fans. Known for his work with Sinéad Lohan, Ron Kavana, and numerous others, he has been involved in many Cork bands both in recording and live work and is a regular with the Dizzy Blues Band at the Lee Delta Blues sessions at the Corner House.

JERRY FEHILY on drums played with HOT HOUSE FLOWERS from 1987 until their rather premature demise. Currently living in Dublin, he is playing with a number of different bands there and recently completed an MA in Jazz music.

Sax and wind synth player, JOHN O’CONNOR, is lecturer and Head of the Wind Department in the Cork School of Music and is conductor and arranger for the CSM JAZZ BIG BAND. Again, his CV is on the lengthy side including the Tom Robinson Band and it says a great deal that the busiest musician in Cork has made himself available for the OPERA over the past 20+ years.

JOHNNY CAMPBELL is widely known both as a bass player and as sound engineer with Secret Garden Studios. Over a long career in the music industry, he has played with Rory Gallagher, Jimmy MacCarthy, Mick Hanly, Maura O’Connell, Stargazers, Ron Kavana and Loudest Whisper, to mention just a few.

By popular demand and at great expense to their families and themselves.
