The Kevin Brady Trio featuring Bill Carrothers (U.S.) & special guest Norma Winstone (U.K.)
The critically acclaimed Irish /American Trio led by leading jazz musician Kevin Brady on Drums, Bill Carrothers (U.S.) – Piano and Dave Redmond – Double bass are joined by renowned U.K. vocalist Norma Winstone.
The trio will officially launch their latest studio album entitled ‘ Ensam’. The album features original compositions and exploratory improvisation, sometimes hypnotically insistent, sometimes turbulent. All with a lasting story of experience & moments past.
Kevin Brady describes the sound of Ensam as the most musically connected experience the trio has had since their first outing in 2007. The inclusion of the wonderful singer Norma Winstone has added a texture to the compositions and performances. Each musician brings real musically depth to each of the compositions.
Ensam was recorded by Irish based recording engineer Ivan Jackman in Wicklow, Ireland and mixed by Thomas Schmidt & Kevin Brady at Thon Studios in Munich, Germany. The album was mastered by renowned engineer Christoph Stickl in Munich, Germany. The album was made possible with funding from The Arts Council/Music Network Recording Grant.
Six of the tracks on Ensam were composed by Kevin Brady and the recording also features remarkable re-workings of the popular jazz standards But Not For Me by Gershwin, a unique duet performance of ‘The Night We Called It A Day’ by Matt Dennis and an exhilarating performance of the Keith Jarrett composition ‘Southern Smiles’.
