Cork One Act Drama Festival

Date/Time: 8PM; November 12 to 14

Venue: Cork Arts Theatre

Admission: €10

Over the three nights, some of the best amateur groups in the country will perform, all hoping to win, to qualify for the All Ireland Finals in Galway in December.

Alan Howley (Eoghan O’Brien in Fair City) is our adjudicator this year and his contribution each evening on the performances will add to the audience’s enjoyment.

We are delighted that Hidden Hearing, Ireland’s premier hearing healthcare provider are our main sponsors for the event this year; without their assistance, we would not be able to stage the festival. Their support is invaluable.

There is a great variety of plays this year- on Thursday, we have a murder mystery, a poignant play about friendship and a story of two thieves ! These will be performed by three Cork groups – Coachford Players, Take 5 from Rathcormac and Conna Dramatic Society.

On Friday we have a hysterically funny tragedy about two generations of women, a look at internet dating and a modern day comedy with a Shakespearian twist! Once again, we have three well known Cork groups- Blue Hat Players from Whitechurch, Schull Drama Group and previous All-Ireland winners Kilmeen from Rossmore.

On Saturday, we have a tale of two young boys’ friendship set in Belfast, a contemporary take on a classic Bryan Mac Mahon play and a story of age and friendship. We are welcoming two new groups to Cork – On Q Theatre from Kildare, Spike Players from Kerry and we welcome back our old friends Camross Drama Group from Wexford.

With the presentation of prizes on Saturday – an exciting night is guaranteed!!
