Andy is a prominent figure in Irish folk music, renowned as a musician, singer-songwriter, and founding member of several influential musical groups including Sweeney’s Men, Planxty, Patrick Street, Mozaik, LAPD, and Usher’s Island.

Throughout his career, Irvine has collaborated extensively, forming notable duos with esteemed musicians such as Dónal Lunny, Paul Brady, Mick Hanly, Dick Gaughan, Rens van der Zalm, and Luke Plumb. His instrumental versatility is showcased through his proficiency on the mandolin, mandola, bouzouki, harmonica, and hurdy-gurdy.

With a musical journey spanning over six decades, Irvine has left an indelible mark on the folk music landscape. He has compiled an extensive repertoire of songs and tunes sourced from various sources, including books, vintage recordings, and folk-song collectors.
