Address: 92 South Main Street, Cork, T12 Y2CC, Ireland
The Liberty Bar is a newly revamped establishment on South Main Street with a history spanning over 100 years, having reopened in October 2022. The venue is split into two distinct, atmospheric spaces. The downstairs area is a bright, relaxed, open space defined by an industrial and eclectic design, featuring exposed brick, galvanized sheeting, and custom-made shelving crafted from materials sourced from Cork Builders’ providers.
In contrast, the upstairs area, known as Resistance, offers a more luxurious, subdued speakeasy feel. This space is dark and rich, featuring antique leather sofas, rugs, mirrors, and dimmed lighting. The walls of Resistance are a key feature, adorned with a commissioned series of unique art pieces by local artists (including Alan Hurley, Kevin O’Brian, and Lucia Moreno) centered around the theme of “resistance.” The bar is available for party bookings, including specialized Christmas party packages that feature finger food platters with various choices, from homemade wings to Asian-style vegan options, and also hosts live entertainment and events.
