Adele is Younger Than Us
Adele Is Younger Than Us is ‘An hour of self-deprecating songs and comedy about a life of not being Adele’
The show, written and performed by Sally O’Leary and Rhiannon Neads with their musical director James Taylor, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year and was a complete sell-out with extra shows added and numerous 4 and 5 star reviews. It was subsequently performed in The Lost Theatre in London and will be part of The Vault Festival in Waterloo this January.
Sally and Rhiannon are not Adele. In any possible way. But what did she ever achieve? Worldwide success, 8 Brits, 10 Grammys, an Academy Award, three double platinum selling albums. What have Sally and Rhiannon achieved? Two years of unemployment, a permanent shaving rash and four failed driving tests.
Adele Is Younger Than Us is the culmination of years of optimistic frustration wedged into an hour of musical stand-up. Watch as Sally and Rhiannon emerge from the cocoon of long and painful adolescence into the world of womanhood, only to realise they weren’t Adele-like butterflies at all. They were moths.
Stiff and Kitsch will take you on a journey through the trials and tribulations of not being Adele. You’ve all been there, that shattering realisation that you are not a multi award winning, global record breaking pop superstar – and not only that, but you’re also actually older than Adele.
