5 Great Things to do this Weekend in Cork

The weekend is here and the possibility the weather might be good even for June! There is a lot happening this weekend in Cork especially for music lovers with Cork’s Independence park hosting concerts for the first time, the Marquee concerts going strong and Cork’s Midsummer festival running still.

Of course there are lots of other things going on outside music so listed below are some options if you are heading out and about this weekend. Enjoy!

1. Cork Independence Park Gigs

Tonight (Friday) we have Walking on Cars. This Irish rock band are hugely popular and bound to have a capacity group there this evening.

Tomorrow night (Saturday ) The Coronas entertain the masses. The Coronas are no doubt one of Irelands most successful and popular bands and their Marquee shows in recent years have always sold out every night as well.

Liam Gallagher and how high Flying Birds finish off the weekend on Sunday night. Hozier and Lauryn Hill play Monday and Wednesday to make the week music filled in the famed rugby venue.

2. Marquee

The Marquee continues all through June but this weekend Versatile (Sold Out), One Day and Kris Kristofferson star. The wide range of music has something for most tastes and these gigs now in their 14th year never fail to entertain both Cork and wider afield audiences.

3. Cork Midsummer Festival

4. Cork Bike Week

Now in its 10th year, Cork Bike Week is going from strength to strength with almost 100 events taking place all over Cork city and county from Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, June 30.There is a fantastic line-up of events with family fun cycles, social cycles for the adults, a bike anti-theft stall, lunchtime cycle, bike films, history cycles, road safety awareness and many, many more.

5. Cork Carnival of Science

Cork Carnival of Science June 22nd and 23rd.

Cork Carnival of Science at Fitzgerald Park features non-stop, family-friendly experiments, interactive activities, garden games, street cuisine and a packed line-up of live demonstrations, big top shows, hands on workshops and entertainment. Activities will include making slime, meeting live zoo animals, checking out the inner workings of robots and extracting DNA with free entry for all to enjoy.
